About the Event
Have you recently been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis? Confused, scared, and given way too much information to digest all at once?
Osteoporosis can seem scary and there’s tons of misinformation out there making you think things are beyond your control.
Join us for a hands-on workshop to discuss fighting osteoporosis, protecting our bone health, and movement education. As a personal trainer and an individual who has been diagnosed with osteoporosis Peggy will lead us through some myths and misconceptions about osteoporosis. She will show you how to train your body with a solid foundation to move well, avoid injuries, and properly perform functional tasks, by showing you how to add external loads from gravity and weights, incorporating resistance training, and adding exercises that will challenge all three systems of balance and add impact to your bones. Peggy will also discuss getting enough protein plus essential vitamins and minerals necessary to maintain bone and muscle mass, ideally from food, and supplements as needed. Dress for movement as Peggy will lead us through exercises and add to your tool-kit to build healthier bones and maintain your long term quality of health.
Peggy does not have a medical background, so no discussion on medications will be presented but feel free to share your experiences with members of the group. This is a safe place to share your ideas and voice your experiences.
This workshop is based on Peggy's experiences with early osteoporosis, her management of the condition, and her extensive fitness training. Please always consult a health care professional before modifying your diet or exercise routine. Peggy is certified in personal training, yoga, Pilates, barre, and spin.
Pre-registration is required.
