About the Event
Qi gong, pronounced “chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. It involves using exercises to optimize energy within the body, mind, and spirit, with the goal of improving and maintaining health and well-being. Qi gong has both mental and physical components and involves the regulation of the mind, breath, body’s movement and posture. Qi gong practice typically involves moving meditation, coordinating slow-flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing, and a calm meditative state of mind. People practice qi gong for recreation, exercise, relaxation, preventive medicine, self-healing, alternative medicine, meditation, self-cultivation, and training for martial arts. Dana's style has always been very "qi gong" when she teaches yoga. Since practicing qi gong her energy is more calming, welcoming and tranquil. Dana practices 15 to 20 minutes every day to set her energy in mind and body.
