About the Event
About the Programs:
The Resource Table Tuesday 3/5: is where a staff member from Monmouth County Division on Aging, Disabilities and Veterans Services displays and distributes informational materials on benefits, programs and services available for eligible Monmouth County seniors, adults with disabilities, veterans and their dependents, and caregivers.
The Ready Go Bag Wednesday 3/6: is a water-resistant canvas messenger bag designed to accompany an evacuee to a shelter, hospital or evacuation site. Each bag is packed with information on disaster preparedness, a form to note emergency contacts and medical conditions, and a checklist for vital documents. It is designed for Monmouth County residents in coastal communities and anyone who may feel vulnerable should they need to evacuate their home due to a disaster. It can be paired with Register Ready which is a voluntary and free program designed to identify residents who may need assistance evacuating in advance of an emergency and aid in the development of shelter plans for those with access and functional needs. Information is collected through a secure portal that is only accessible by emergency management and first responders. Anyone who may find it difficult relocating to safety with family or friends or to a public shelter during an emergency evacuation because of a physical or cognitive limitation, language barrier, or lack of transportation may wish to register. Staff from Monmouth County Office on Aging and Monmouth County Sheriff's Office and Office of Emergency Management provide a brief presentation on disaster preparedness and Register Ready then distribute the Ready Go Bags. A caregiver may bring identification and emergency contact information to receive a Ready Go Bag on behalf of a care recipient.
